My Artist Statement

First Portfolio Post

Artist Statement

Art and technology have been two of my top interests ever since I can remember.  Flipping through photo albums it gives me a proud feeling to see photos from my first time using a digital camera.  It was a field trip to Washington, D.C. back in grade school.  My friends and I had a blast hosting a makeshift photo shoot from our hotel room.  There are great memories attached to seeing the smiles and silly faces I have captured in photographs from that day forward.  I want to share these memories with those involved and communicate the emotions and connections behind the image to my viewers.  To be able to say that my work connects two people who would have never thought they could have something in common is my main goal.

In what feels like a world full of designers and creators, my process will always be a struggle of comparison.  I’ve learned the best way to conquer this to just create what I feel is right. My work will fit blend into the current art scene seamlessly.  Through the use of different materials, methods, concepts, and subjects, a larger picture is painted. I want the work to show my personal and cultural identity and senses of community.
